A message from Africare:
The next Polio Vaccination campaign is confirmed for the 23rd, 24th and 25th of October 2015.
Africare is a leading non-governmental organization (NGO) committed to addressing African development and policy issues by working in partnership with African people to build sustainable, healthy and productive communities.
The vaccine is given orally to community children. No previous experience or Portuguese fluency is necessary..you only need to be able to count, and figure out if a child is under 5 years old (you will be shown how!).Grab a buddy or pair up with someone on the day. Take hand sanitiser, sunhat, sunscreen and a smile. Drinks and a snack are usually provided. Normally the day begins with a briefing at the Africare office in the city, then drive to venue and after the vaccines are administered, return to city by lunchtime. Generally Fridays are the least attended, with Saturday most popular. Check with Mavinga where the need is this time.
