We were approached recently by Lis da Rocha, a very experienced British Council English teacher, who is currently working with IFAL training English language teachers here in Luanda. The idea is for the new English language teachers to, in turn, train further teachers, not just here in Luanda but across Angola. And so on….
The latest cohort is coming to the end of their course and, unfortunately, find that their allocated budget has recently become much reduced.
We felt, on your behalf, that it would be good to offer a donation to help out on this occasion. This will include a contribution towards the cost of their forthcoming end of year conference to which members of the Association of Angolan English Teachers are invited.
Yesterday, we were delighted to meet with Lis and some of her colleagues and trainees to hear more about the project. It was fascinating to chat to such energetic and enthusiastic people who are so obviously passionate about what they are doing.
We know that the LBW contribution of AKz 25,000 will be very wisely spent, and we’ll look forward to hearing more about this wonderful initiative in the future.
